READ HANDOUTS ON MEXICAN REVOLUTION

Due Feb. 17/Feb.18

1. Read the 1 page handout on the Phases of the Mexican Revolution.  This will help you better understand the longer reading, particularly the sections, "A Time of War," "Now the Revolution," and "The Counter Revolutionaries."

2. Read and highlight and annotate the following from the handout entitled, "Mexico, Growth Pangs of A Nation."

a.  Problems the Mexican people experienced that led to the Mexican Revolution of 1910.  (1850's-1910)
b.  Leaders of the Revolution and what each leader hoped to change about Mexican society.  (These would be the goals of the Revolution.)
c.  Successes of the Revolution.  (1917-1980's)
d.  The impact that counter revolutionaries had on the Revolution.  Particularly, look at how their actions led to failures in achieving the Revolution's goals.
